FoodDiary Introduction
The FoodDiary is a program for tracking daily food consumption and for measuring how closely that consumption matches your nutrition goals. You can use the program to
Find out whether your diet is lacking any particular vitamin
Count calories without having to guess how may calories are in each food
Find out how well your diet measures up to your goals
Easily enter your own recipes or foods
The program uses the publicly available USDA food database to provide a list of over 6000 foods with full nutrition information. Additional foods can be defined and recipes created. This removes the guesswork from dieting and provides information about foods that isn't listed on the side of the box.
Each day, you simply add the foods that you ate to that day's food list. The program will sum up all the nutrients in the foods that you ate and will display an overall score for the day, and for each nutrient based on your criteria.
When scoring a food, recipe or a whole day, the program uses a set of criteria for how much of each nutrient should be consumed. There are pre-built criteria including the USDA food pyramid recommendations and the "New food pyramid" detailed in the book "Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy" by Walter Willett. You can start with these and customize them to create the exact diet you want
